End of Life Notice

A number of Verifone chip & pin terminals (PEDs) are now reaching their end of life (EOL), including the VX820 and VX680.

Why is this happening to your PEDs?

Uniware have previously supplied both the VX820 and VX680 to our clients with both units being certified as PIN transaction security (PTS) level 3. The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI) set the official PCI 3 expiration date for new deployments using this security format as April 30, 2021. As a result, Verifone are now bringing these products to their natural EOL.

What will happen if you don’t upgrade your PEDs?

Verifone have stated that the VX820 and VX680 units are now only receiving limited updates.
After April 2023 they will receive no further updates, repairs or replacements. This will affect your PCI compliance moving forward.

Current PED compliance and considerations

Considering the need for compliance and with Verifone now only offering minimal support for these PED units, we strongly recommend that Uniware clients upgrade to new PEDs as soon as possible. This will ensure that you continue to receive the most up-to-date and thorough support, staying compliant, whilst protecting yourself and your customers.

Upgrade your PEDs now
for increased security and longevity!

Uniware offer two different upgrade options, with a number of these units in service now. If you would like to upgrade your devices as soon as possible please contact your dedicated Account Manager to make arrangements:
